When two major hurricanes recently struck the Southeast, KBS went beyond managing client operations through the storms—it stepped up to support employees in need.
In the aftermath of both Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, KBS Operations leaders quickly organized relief efforts for employees and their families affected by the storms. This included coordinating the delivery of food, supplies, and even rental cars and hotel accommodations where necessary.
In North Carolina, local KBS supervisors Ricardo Tejada, Maria Vallejo, Carlos Padilla, and Jairo Sarmiento organized and delivered supplies to 14 families in Asheville and Greenville impacted by Hurricane Helene, which made landfall along Florida's Gulf Coast and swept through Georgia and the Carolinas with devastating force.
In Florida, KBS managers Nathanaelys Colon Quinones and Jairo Sarmiento (who oversees both regions) responded to emergency requests from 10 employees and their families near Tampa. These families were dealing with major flooding and power outages caused by Hurricane Milton. KBS teams delivered essential supplies, arranged a rental car for an employee whose vehicle was damaged by a fallen tree, and provided short-term lodging for other team members.
“We are deeply committed to our employees, especially when they face hardships like this,” said Michael Napieraj, RVP of Operations at KBS. “When we heard that our employees and their families were in need, our local leaders jumped into action. Our crews are the backbone of our company, and it’s our responsibility to support them in times of crisis.”
These relief efforts extended beyond employees in need. In South Florida, KBS’ affiliate, HSS, mobilized emergency housekeeping staff to support a major hospitality client affected by Hurricane Milton. Led by Manuel Zamudio, Area Manager for South Florida, the team ensured that the client’s operations continued smoothly despite the storm’s disruption.
Together, these efforts highlight KBS’ ability to manage both the human and operational sides of a crisis. With decades of experience handling hurricane-related disruptions, KBS is well-equipped to help clients maintain continuity during extreme weather events.
